Fable Legends won’t be launching until next year

The two companies are announcing that they are aiming to now open up the testing phase for all those interested later in the spring of 2016, using the extra time to improve the core mechanics of the title and to make sure that the network infrastructure can support it.

The game’s been in closed beta for a while now and was supposed to be released for real, or at least in open beta, this year; something which developer Lionhead Studios has admitted will not now happen.

The official site announcement explains that Lionhead failed to anticipate how big the title would become and the complexity of the core mechanics that will have to be perfected before a public beta test goes live. According to Eckelberry, the game is coming along well, but the developer has simply under estimated the size and scope of the game.

As 2015 draws to a close, Microsoft and Lionhead have confirmed that Fable Legends, the multiplayer action adventure spin off of the popular franchise that was slated for launch this year, but in fact never managed to show up so far, has been delayed into next year.

In a post on the game’s website, the studio wrote: “Fable Legends is coming together well and it’s a lot of fun”. “But we think that we can make it even better”. Have any of you tried Fable Legends at all?

The game’s open beta will now launch in spring 2016, although a release date for the final version has yet to be confirmed.
