Facebook adds 360-degree video to News Feed
“Along with updates from your friends and family, you will also be able to discover wonderful new content on Facebook from media companies, organisations, and individual creators”. Disney and Lucasfilm, for instance, are debuting a new 360-degree experience from the upcoming movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens, letting fans take a look inside the Star Wars universe. It added that “people enjoy more immersive content in their News Feeds”, prompting it to launch 360 degree video.

Facebook users can experience 360-degree videos on Internet browsers using your typical notebook or desktop computer, and via mobile devices like iPhones and Android smartphones.
The new service will allow you to pan videos by moving your phone around by using your device’s gyroscope.
“Our goal at Facebook is to connect you with the people and things that matter, every single day”, reads a Facebook blog post announcing the addition. According to the company, they will be rolling out 360-degree videos in your News Feed. You can view 360 videos right now on the official Pages of Discovery, GoPro, VICE and more. So turn to your left and the video will reciprocate that movement to show you what’s in that direction.
Anyone can upload 360 videos starting today, but Facebook is not now allowing users to run ad campaigns with the videos.
Facebook net customers can drag a cursor and cellular customers can tilt their units in any path to expertise a 360-degree panorama view.
It bought VR headset maker Oculus for billion a year ago, but this is the first time its foray into virtual reality touches consumers. It’s not available on Safari or Internet explorer, however, and iOS users will have to wait a few months before they can waved their phones around in the air to look through videos.
Rumors that Facebook would be launching the new video feature popped up last week, though it was suggested then that the feature would be launched through a standalone app.
