Facebook Adds Chatbots For Businesses, Plus The Tools To Block Them

While it may seem a stretch for some to start using Messenger in order to talk to businesses – as opposed to friends and family – Rogers Communications has had great success using the tool.
According to Facebook, there have been more than 50 million businesses on Messenger, which boasts 900 million monthly active users.
The possibilities are endless as to how brands can now interact with their customers and loyal users through Messenger.
As outlined at F8, Zuckerberg stated that Facebook’s Messenger app and Live Video will be further developed over the next five years.
Facebook also released a Bot Engine that will enable developers to build more complex bots that can interpret intent from natural language through machine learning and continuously improve over time.
That’s right, Facebook wants to be your one-stop-shop to do business with companies, and for flowers, you won’t have to install a new app or enter your credit card information in again.

The social network developed its own camera for 360° video, and will make the design open source so others can build it.
