Facebook Adds SMS Support to its Messenger App on Android Devices
As the app continues to grow, now having over 900 million people using it every month, Messenger has evolved to be more than just a platform where users can send and receive messages.

Eventually Facebook plans to show chat bots and shortcuts to businesses you frequently message in Home, said Messenger chief David Marcus at the Wired Business Conference on Thursday.
Users of the Facebook Messenger can now see ‘recent messages’ on the top of the screen where chat bubbles with your recent conversations would be placed.
Additionally, Messenger users will now apparently alert you as to when your friends are “Active Now”, thanks to a green button appearing next to their name; the same option that is available on desktop.
By revamping the home screen, Facebook is hoping to keep you engaged with the Messenger app even longer than you already are.
Facebook has issued a newsroom blog post on this latest update to the Facebook Messenger, where they have talked about the update.
The changes comes days after Facebook revealed another major upgrade for Messenger as it looks to make the app your go-to message centre.
Ever since the company has pushed users to download the Messenger separately from the Facebook app, it has been proved dubious.
The new “Home” page will also show which of your contacts have a birthday coming up, meaning that you’ll never miss a special occasion again.
This story was first published on CNN.com, “Facebook Messenger can now send SMS text messages”. You can always search for people or groups from the search bar above to start a conversation. Facebook was aiming to make it’s UI simpler and easy to navigate.
