Facebook app causing battery drain of your iPhone

However, iPhone users still complain about a massive battery drop, which is believed to be caused by the Facebook app.

Galligan found the app was responsible for 15% (3.4 hours) of his total battery drain over a seven-day period – more than any other app on his phone.

“My guess is that Facebook is hijacking audio sessions on iOS by keeping silent audio in the background whenever a video plays in the app”, he wrote. Better still, remove the Facebook app from your phone, and perhaps replace it with Paper (US store only).

Those affected by the issue might resolve to delete the Facebook app for now, but help is at hand in the near future. Even though mobile browsers like Safari and Chrome tend to take up a few serious resources as well, Galligan found that the Facebook app drained more battery life than Safari.
