Facebook begins rollout of 360-degree videos in News Feed
This is Facebook’s first project with virtual reality pioneer Oculus, Gizmodo noted, which the company acquired last summer for billion. There is a special set of cameras that you need to use and record all the angles on a certain place or at a specific event. If you’re on a touch-screen enabled mobile device, just drag the video with your finger or turn your device whichever direction you want to.

Maher Saba, engineering director for video at Facebook said that, in the future, user will be able to create their own 360-degree videos to share with friends. “This is one reason the video has been so successful on Facebook, and we’re excited to take it a step further with 360-degree video”.
Well now Facebook is doubling down on its 3D efforts by enabling 3D videos in the News Feed.
The feature launched with several videos posted to Facebook to show off its potential, including a teaser from Walt Disney for its upcoming Star Wars movie. That’s because it’s one of the first 360-degree videos to debut on the social network.
The new 360-degree feature has been added to “News Feed” and is now available on any Web browser along with devices powered by Google’s Android OS.
Other partners signed up at launch include Discovery, GoPro, Vice, Saturday Night Live and USA basketball star LeBron James. In order to take on YouTube, Facebook will look towards aggressive expansion of its footprint in the video domain.
“Along with updates from your friends and family, you will also be able to discover wonderful new content on Facebook from media companies, organisations, and individual creators”.

Facebook videos are about to get more interactive. It’s not available on Safari or Internet explorer, however, and iOS users will have to wait a few months before they can waved their phones around in the air to look through videos.
