Facebook brings ‘chat bots’ to Messenger

Facebook has always been adding new features in the app and has been constantly developing the messenger app as well.

You can also shop for clothing and shoes in Messenger or check the news with chat bots from media companies like CNN.

Facebook has also developed its own camera – a special device created to take “immersive” 360-degree video that can be shared on the social network. Bots are software infused with the ability to “learn” from conversations, getting better at figuring out what people are telling them and how best to respond.

“A lot of the things we think about as physical objects today, like a TV, will actually just be a $1 app in an app store”, Zuckerberg said at the conference, attended by more than 2500 developers and partners.

Artificial intelligence “chat-bots” could be the future of online interaction, Facebook has said.

While Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg took the stage with a vision for further connecting the world, the biggest news out of F8 was about a whole other type of connection.

SAN FRANCISCO Facebook Inc said on Tuesday it will begin allowing developers to build chatbots inside its Messsenger app that will enable users to communicate with businesses one-on-one in its latest efforts to dominate enterprise transactions and customer service.

Facebook’s chat bots might also threaten individual apps.

Dropbox announced on its blog on Monday that its files are now available to share using Facebook Messenger.

This means businesses can now develop chatbots that talk to you on Messenger using a little AI and some natural language processing. So, without a doubt, users will have some new surprises regarding Facebook’s video support presented at this point. That’s right, Facebook says their plan is more of a design guide than a marketable product, and they’re releasing the build on GitHub very soon.

This of course out-weighs other Facebook properties like Instagram and WhatsApp, though Zuckerberg was keen to mention that messages sent through both Messenger and WhatsApp are three times the global volume of SMS messages. “Because they know if your messages start being spammy instead of being always your friends, you’re not going to open your phone when you buzz and that’s a frightful problem for Facebook to have”, Constine said.

Facebook Messenger officially adds chatbots, but will anybody actually use them?
