Facebook also emphasized the impact of live video, and said it has built a way for people to stream via devices as well, such as drones. Like most interactions on Facebook, all of the live videos have a person on the other end. By providing utility through its huge developer and business ecosystem, Facebook is expected loyalty with Messenger, one-up SMS and keep up with chat competitors like Kik, Line and Telegram that have their own bot platforms.
The social-networking giant laid out its 10-year strategy, which includes artificial intelligence, chat bots and a heavy dose of virtual reality.CCTV America’s Mark Niu reports.
Messenger now has more than 900 million monthly users worldwide.
MOONSHOT: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg holds a propeller pod for Aquila, the company’s unmanned aircraft that will be used to deliver WiFi to developing countries at the Facebook F8 developer conference.
The principal Lauren Kunze of Pandorabots which has been building as well as deploying chatbots for firms since the year 2002 has said that, from the developer or else the enterprise perspective, getting access to 1.6 billion people would be very exciting.
The possibilities are endless as to how brands can now interact with their customers and loyal users through Messenger. The Web browser might have been our front door to the Internet and apps before, and until today they have that use, but experts say that bots could become soon our new and primary digital gateway, leaving the browsing beside.
That’s already a popular model in some Asian countries, where people use China’s WeChat, Japan’s Line and other texting services to schedule doctor’s appointments, pay for meals, order merchandise or send gifts to their friends.
Zuckerberg also launched 3D 360 camera system known as “Facebook surround 360” which forms spherical footage in 3D which basically uses 17 cameras to stitch the footage. “Our customer experience is our best product and we are excited to team with Facebook to offer bots for Messenger, ultimately taking our customer experience to a new level”.
