Her next tweet acknowledges that she “photoshopped” the clown into the picture, but chaos was reigning on the floor of her dorm already and her Resident Assistant had called police, WTIC reported. They should also be discouraged from and made aware of the seriousness of posting any type of internet post that could be construed as a threat.

Police searched the school, but nothing suspicious was found. The threats have been deemed hoaxes by authorities who have investigated the cases.

At one school in OR, officials sent an email to anxious parents this week reassuring them after a rumor spread about clowns planning to harm local students.
The police department says there have been communities where people dressed as clowns and committed crimes, but some of those national reports are greatly exaggerated. It’s possible the three clowns fled in a black SUV.
“Officers responded to these reports but were unable to substantiate them”.

“So far there have been no reports of confirmed clown sightings in the City of Hammond and at this time the information appears to be exclusively based on Facebook”, Hoyda said.
