Facebook said it had introduced a new message for memorialized pages and accidentally displayed it on the accounts of around 2 million living users. This was a bad error that we have now fixed.

Nevertheless, if any of you encountered this bug on your Facebook profile, please do leave your message in the comments section below. Point it out on Twitter, of course.

The error resulted in users being shown a message that said people who loved them would take comfort in their profile being used in remembrance.

People who have been memorialised by Facebook have the following written on top of their Facebook profile “Remembering Anne”.

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) left millions of users confused due to its massive glitch informing everyone that they are dead including its very own CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

Every Facebook user can opt into having the memorial page option when they die to inform friends after a “legacy contact” changes your account.

Several users who experienced the glitch said the “Memorial” banner appeared automatically on their account, without triggering any notification, and disappeared minutes later.

Zuckerberg defended the integrity of News Feed stories during an on-stage chat at a Techonomy conference in California the night before being memorialized on his profile page. The tech company immediately fixed the error.

That’s what happened when Facebook itself started declaring people dead when in fact they are not.

Facebook issues: – Facebook is one such name which everyone is familiar with.

“You can tell us in advance whether you’d like to have your account memorialized or permanently deleted from Facebook”, an entry in the social media platform’s Help Center explained.
