Facebook hit a daily user base of one billion in August, and has only seen this grow as its user base soars.

The bump in Facebook’s stock price on Thursday came on the first day of trading after the Internet giant posted third-quarter financial results that outpaced Wall Street’s expectations.

Market research firm FactSet StreetAccount had predicted 1.53 billion monthly active users, with 1.36 billion on mobile.

Ad revenue grew 45.4 percent to $4.30 billion, with 78 percent of that coming from mobile versus 66 percent in the year-ago quarter.

Facebook slimmed the number down even more and apparently there’s more than 1 billion people using the service every day. The 1.55 billion users the company reported Wednesday fall under the new definition, according to a spokesperson. This figure shows 17 percent growth from the third quarter of previous year. Now, the social network has 1.1 billion daily active users.

In Addition, Mark Zuckerberg said about future improvement of facebook that is “Over the next few years, video is going to be important – and we want to become one of the best places to share it”. Facebook partnered with many companies which include the Guardian, to distribute stories and videos over its platform. In terms of monthly active users it attracted over 1.5 billion people during Q3, on average. Investors earned $0.57 per share during the quarter.

“Instant Articles not only connect readers to stories faster; they also provide a richer reading experience than standard mobile web articles, with dynamic features that make the content more fluid, interactive and immersive”, Facebook product manager Michael Reckhow said. “Facebook is the strongest and most consistent company in the social”, James Gellert, CEO of Rapid Ratings, a company that assesses the financials of public and private companies, said in a statement. The key to growth will be convincing additional users to download the Facebook app on their phones and tablets.
