Facebook Introduces Live Streaming
No longer just for celebrities, Facebook’s Live Video feature is now available for testing by “a small percentage” of U.S. iPhone users, the company said today.

Meanwhile, about the “Live Video” feature, Facebook product managers Vadim Lavrusik and Thai Tran said in a recent blog post: “Live lets you show the people you care about what you’re seeing in real time…”
Initially the live video attribute of Facebook will soon be accessible exclusively to a modest fraction of men and women in the USA and will likely be restricted to iPhones.
It would also be possible to document travelling experiences right as they unfold, not just to ensure that those special memories will always stay with you, but also to make your friends feel as if they were your companions throughout the entire journey.
Apparently, the new Facebook feature that allows live video streaming is still in its early testing phase and only a few US iPhone users can try it out for the meantime.
During your broadcast, users would be able to see the number of live viewers, names of friends tuning in, and a real-time stream of comments. However, some iOS and Android users can now see the new sharing screens Facebook is testing. “While watching a live video, you can tap the Subscribe button to get notified the next time the broadcaster goes live”, they add.
According to commentators, the feature represented Facebook’s latest challenge to online messaging service Twitter, which added a live video application called Periscope earlier this year.
Alongside Live Video, Facebook has also introduced a new way to share photo collages, allowing you to group the photos and videos together.
After a live broadcast ends, the video will be saved to the user’s Timeline, where the account holder can either delete it or save it so friends and family can view it later.

The networking giant today began testing the Live Streaming video broadcasting feature for a select few users on iOS in the US. This is a big announcement following the company’s launching of live video streaming for celebrities in August. The feature is now available for iPhone users, and its Android counterpart will be available early next year. Periscope, a Twitter app, also allows users to live broadcast.
