Facebook launches reaction feature: Love stands out as popular
Facebook has announced the roll out of the “Reactions” feature after testing it in a few countries including Ireland, Spain, and Japan.

To add/use a reaction, you have to hold down the Like button when you’re using a mobile or hover over the Like button on desktop to see the reaction image options, then tap either Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad or Angry. The “Reactions” feature will essentially expand the options available to the users to express their reactions to posts; giving them five new ways to respond, other than the “Like’ button”.
The new reactions are a result of fans calling for a Dislike button, to express negative emotions.
The company said that it had been conducting global research “including focus groups and surveys to determine what types of reactions people would want to use most” before Reactions was rolled out.
The new reactions buttons will provide an opportunity for business to better understand how people are reacting to their content on Facebook.
“Not every moment you want to share is happy”. Click on the one you want, let go and the reaction will be posted.
“We have been listening to people and [we] know that there should be more ways to easily and quickly express how something you see in the Newsfeed makes you feel”, said Sammi Krug, product manager of Facebook in a blog post.
Are you “wow-faced” or “angry-faced” over this new addition?
Facebook users have long complained the “like” button is too one-dimensional and isn’t an appropriate way to react to certain posts, such as when people post sad or disturbing news.

Rather than show the counts for each of the reactions, Facebook will only highlight the three most used reactions on a given post.
