Facebook lets users rank friends – WAFB 9 News Baton Rouge, Louisiana News
Putting users in the driver’s seat will not only keep eyeballs on the site, but will likely help Facebook rake in more dollars because it could be even tougher for businesses to get their posts seen by users unless they pay for ads, analysts say.

Frantz said that Facebook has redesigned and expanded to make sure you don’t miss a post from particular friends or Pages.
Facebook allows users to see more from friends and family members they like and less from those they don’t really care for. “Human nature seems to indicate that you would pick your friends over companies”.
Additionally, a report on The Verge said that this new feature came with an unfollow setting that will allow users to choose the people with whom they continue to be in touch, without being bothered about crowding their news feed. Being called the “see first” feature, this option will be available in the updated version of the preferred batch controls.
Facebook has long been controlling what appears in our daily newsfeed, sometimes burying posts that might be more interesting under newer and more popular posts.
“You will then see any new stories they’ve shared since your last visit to Facebook at the top of News Feed, with a star in the top right of their post so you know why they’re at the top”, Frantz explains.
In his statement to NBC News, Greg Marra, product manager at Facebook, said that this will allow the news feed to prioritize from the information that is available, making it easier for the users to browse, irrespective of the time that they have. On average, a Facebook user reads only 100 of those stories, according to the social media company.
Facebook’s computer software uses a wide range of information you provide to decide what to show.
