Facebook Live Video is now available on Android

The same feature is already available on iPhone, and Android users can already tune into those streams.

In early December, Facebook began letting a small percentage of people in the US stream live video from their iPhones.

Facebook says the rollout for live streaming on Android will begin next week in the United States, with other countries to follow. Then last month, all iPhone users got to join the fun.

Once you end the live broadcast, the video will remain on your timeline as a recorded one – which you can of course delete if desired.

So far, Facebook hasn’t said whether it will bring live streaming capabilities to its desktop website or Windows apps.

Right now, Facebook Live is exclusive to iOS devices with the Facebook app in 30 countries around the world, but it used to be even more exclusive than that – only celebrities and verified accounts could previously use Live starting last August.

With 1.5 billion monthly active users, Facebook has the kind of scale that any company, particularly mobile video startups, would die for, but that doesn’t necessary mean every new feature or service will succeed.

“Whether you have an established fan base or want to build up your audience, Live is a new way for you to connect authentically with your fans in the moment”.

It remains to be seen if Facebook can deliver on that front for regular people, too, but we’re likely to find out soon as the live-video feature steadily rolls out across the social networks vast and global userbase.
