Facebook Messenger Adds 3D Touch Support on iOS
Facebook Messenger has had 3D Touch support for Quick Actions from the app icon since December, and today the app has updated to expand 3D Touch features inside the app.

Facebook continues to embrace 3D Touch, with Apple’s pressure-sensitive touchscreen tech now being added to Facebook Messenger.
Although there are a slew of messaging apps now available on the market, Facebook Messenger enjoys wide popularity worldwide and an impressive user base. “Secret Conversations can only be read on one device and we recognize that experience may not be right for everyone”.
The feature will allow users to preview conversations, photos, GIFs, videos, stickers, links and more content. 3D Touch capabilities can be used for previewing contacts, conversations and locations, as well.
The 3D Touch feature allowed users to “peep” and “pop” on a link, a photo or something else without actually opening it.
While a growing number of apps have added 3D Touch support, progress has been rather slow. The latest update to Messenger on iOS also comes with a layout fix for users testing iOS 10 beta. In turn, developers should become more interested in the functionality and add support to more apps.
3D Touch works by introducing a new technology to the touchscreen itself, which measures the change in the tiny gap between the display’s layers and thus calculates the pressure being applied.

As ever, if there’s a problem with 3D Touch it’s that it’s not always entirely clear what you can and can’t firm-press on.
