Facebook Messenger app now available for Apple Watch

We’ve known that Facebook Messenger was inbound for the Apple Watch; we saw it previewed at Apple’s event last month, in fact.

Sometimes it’s just not enough to have a great photograph that you want to share with all of your connections. The new operating system has features such as Native Apps support and hardware access through APIs that all help developers build apps like Facebook Messenger. It allows Apple Watch users to send stickers, Likes, voice clips, and lets them respond to incoming notifications.

If you have the Messenger app already installed, then simply launch the App Store from your device’s home screen and tap on the “Updates” tab.

With nearly 2 billion photos uploaded to the social network each day, photos are a central part of how people use the platform. Moreover, there are tweaks like nightstand mode and third-party watch face integration to offer an upgraded smartwatch experience.

The update doesn’t focus on only the Apple Watch, though. The updated app is 79.5MB in size and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running on iOS 7.0 or above.

There have also been other, non-Apple Watch improvements made in version 38.0 of the Facebook Messenger app. New iOS 9 integration means that you can find Messenger contacts and conversations using your iPhone’s unified search function.
