Facebook-owned Instagram is a firm favourite of fashion-focused news outlets and the models they feature, boasting a few 400m users.

Facebook is partnering with news organizations like CNN, Mashable and the Washington Post to introduce the app next week.

Facebook is reportedly in development to release its Notify news app next week. Report of third-quarter is awaited later on Wednesday.

The company is launching the new application following up on another recent app release, known as Instant Articles, which is another news application designed for iOS platforms. This service will allow media organizations/publishers to create articles and directly embed them to the social network’s mobile news feeds.

It is an important segment of the online world that Facebook could control and should the app be successful, it would grant the company more power on online media.

The Notify app will take Instant Articles to the next level to deliver news in a fast and interactive form to the content publishers. Poke, Camera, Rooms, Slingshot, and Groups are flawless examples. Messenger with 700 million users and WhatsApp with 900 million users are also making a name for themselves in the social networking space. So instead of having to sort through your entire Newsfeed just to see the latest news while scrolling past photos and videos of your colleagues new baby and internet memes, the app will alert you when news has been reported from sources you care about. Facebook wants to make it easy for people to discover hot news stories in real-time and stay updated on everything that matters to them.
