Facebook Notify Fills your Lock Screen with News
Yesterday, Facebook announced the release of Notify south of the border, a new app from the social network that delivers timely notifications to users, as selected by the user.

To try Notify for Facebook, download and install the Notify app from the Apple App Store. Notify also provides station suggestions based on your Facebook profile, and it’s easy to discover and add new stations any time’. The app – which offers content from news sources such as Fox News, Washington Post and CBS Sports – allows user to share notifications directly from the lock screen.
The social media giant is planning to work with more sources in the future to meet the wide variety of users’ interest, especially in different countries.
While Facebook’s “Notify” may seem unnecessary for now, Facebook seems determined to spend money on this type of notification app. Hence, a few media outlets speculate that it has something to do with Facebook trying to gain control of the Internet by supplanting as many of its own apps as possible on the Web.
Like other notifications on your lock screen, Notify messages are short and to the point like headlines.
The list of notification that users wanted to receive can be curated by users themselves. This means that users can choose to be notified with just sports news or fashion news as reported by Facebook Newsroom.
Although its features are similar to those of a news reader, the Notify app technically isn’t one since it can alert you of non-news content too, such as new videos from Vevo. Facebook Inc.is acquiring photo-sharing app Instagram for approx.

The aim of Notify is to make sure that users will be updated not only with their friend’s post alone but also with other update going around the world.
