Facebook Security Checkup is Here
Facebook said that starting in the next few weeks, users will see a reminder on their News Feeds about the availability of Security Checkup and a prompt taking them through three steps available in the tool. There are three steps that you’ll need to complete/follow in order to maximize this security tool.

“We recommend not using your Facebook password anywhere else online, never sharing it with anyone, and avoiding common words that may be easy to guess”, says Melissa Luu-Van, Product Manager, Facebook on the company blog post.
Facebook has made a new feature called Security Checkup generally available after testing on an invite-only group, according to SoftPedia. The new tool includes account login status, login alerts and password safety features. We have dedicated teams and intelligent security systems working around the clock to help keep your account secure.
“We saw significant interest in Privacy Checkup when it was launched past year”.
The first step will provide a list of every device or application logged in to the Facebook account, with the option of unclicking any old or unused devices.

Next, you have the option to turning on a feature that will let you know when someone tries to log into your account from a device that you haven’t used before. The third element of the security checkup tool concerns password protection. You can log out of those that you don’t use anymore or those that you forgot you logged in to the first place. Facebook has multiple partnerships with security vendors, including ESET, F-Secure and Trend Micro, for malware scanning. “So the controls in this iteration of Security Checkup were chosen because they require minimal effort from people and still have high impact for enhancing security”.
