Admitting his role in a California court yesterday, Sanford “Spam King” Wallace (47) sent unsolicited ads disguised as posts, according to AP.

The scam artist collected Facebook users’ account information by way of sending “phishing” messages, tricking users into providing their passwords. He was charged with fraud and criminal contempt, Haag said.

Amusingly Facebook has already won against Wallace, with the courts fining him $711 million.

Mr. Wallace was freed on bond and will be sentenced in December.

Wallace acknowledged accessing Facebook’s computer network in order to send the spam messages on three occasions between November 2008 and February 2009. But Wallace admitted on Monday that he violated the order in April that year, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
