Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s properties Apple Music and Maps closed the top-10 most used smartphone apps in 2015 at positions nine and ten, respectively.
Messenger now has more than 700 million users, about half the size of the audience on Facebook’s social network.
The update is being distributed to a broad audience after a month of testing among smartphone users in Australia.
They say the idea would likely be enhanced as we get ready to welcome apps which would make use of technological advances such as 3D touch, while others would “enhance” capabilities of non-conventional devices such as televisions.

Facebook appears to be as popular as ever among U.S.-based handset owners, with recently published data confirming it as the most-used smartphone app of 2015. The fastest-growing app for the year among the top 10 was Facebook Messenger, up 41%, and taking the third spot. Facebook has added quite a few features to Facebook Messenger, and even made it possible for users to use the app without having a Facebook account. Since its very high-profile entrance into the music-streaming world in June, Apple Music has been a constant source of debate. Given that Apple Music is just shy of being six months old, it is no surprise that it saw a 26 percent increase. Strikingly, that number represents only 39.6% of Americans, meaning the bulk of United States citizens steer clear of the social networking powerhouse. A bit surprising not to see the Apple App Store listed, considering the Google Play Store was in the top 5. In October, Apple CEO Tim Cook disclosed that the streaming service has over 15 million users, out of which, 6.5 million are paid subscribers. What’s interesting here is that “other” actually had a bigger market share than Blackberry at 1.2% and Blackberry at 0.7%.
