Facilities extended to Kashmiri separatists may be curtailed

Only India-backed political parties, a section of ambitious government employees, and non-descript groups chose to meet the delegation.

Visibly disappointed over the opposition leaders’ attempt to cut ice with separatist leaders, the Home Minister said he tweeted before arriving in Srinagar that “we are ready to talk to anyone who wants peace and normalcy in Kashmir”.

On this, the government informed the meeting that chilli-filled PAVA shells would be used now to control crowds, he said.

The separatists’ move not to indulge in dialogue clearly indicates that they are acting on the orders received from Pakistan.

India’s home minister said that the Mehbooba Mufti-led coalition government had the full backing of the center and that it would effectively tackle the ongoing situation in Kashmir.

MoS Jitendra Singh said that the members had appealed to the people of the state to shun the path of violence and resolve all issues through dialogue and discussion.

Talking to reporters after the meeting Ram Madhav said, the meeting deliberated on the Kashmir situation and that future course of action will be decided after the all party meeting to be held today. But you know what happened there. I do not wish to go into the details. “Until the government talks to all the stakeholders in Kashmir, a solution will not be found”. However, the responses from the other side can not be categorized as Kashmiriyat nor Insaniyat (humanity).

The home minister also hit out at Kashmiri separatists saying they did not believe in Kashmiriyat or insaaniyat. “This is not even jamhooriyat (democracy)”, Rajnath said. Mehbooba had written a letter to separatists leaders in her capacity as PDP Chief inviting them to engage with the delegation.

Asserting that the all-party delegation represented the collective will of the Indian Parliament, the Congress has asserted that by refusing to talk with the representatives, the Hurriyat has disregarded the collective will of the Parliament. The Home Minister also said that everyone is concerned, on the Kashmir situation. The delegation stayed there (in Jammu) only for three hours and the Kashmiri Pandits were given just eight minutes to put forth their views which was just a mockery of such a serious political business.

It was also emphasised that rehabilitation of released/surrendered militants is also very important for which the Government already has a scheme.

“Everyone wants that the situation must improve”. While the Prime Minister returned to the Capital on Monday night after his visit to Vietnam and China, the Home Minister too had come back from Jammu & Kashmir on Monday evening.

“Not only our doors but windows are also open for talks”, the Union Minister said. The Centre is upset that the state government is treating the separatists with kid gloves. “I appeal to the press to bear in mind that the goings-on in Kashmir are a concern to us all and we need to support of everyone to overcome them”, he urged, pointing out that, “when I had come here (Kashmir) on July 24 and 25, people complained to me about the pellet guns”.
