People were seen wearing t-shirts with “Kabali” printed on them outside theatres as a tribute to the charismatic actor who returns to the big screen after “Lingaa” which released in 2014. Businesses in southern India have given their employees the day off on Friday so they can attend screenings of a new film starring Tamil cinema’s superstar Rajinikanth. Because of getting huge expectations, the movie is little bit failed to catch the hype, but no one can stop Rajini mania. Some of the offices in Tamil Nadu are giving leave to watch the film.
“Kabali” that was released in multiple languages and several countries was a national sensation in India.
Santosh Narayanan has scored the music for the film, which also stars Radhika Apte, Dhanshika and Kalaiarasan in key roles.
Not stopping here, the producer also said that Kabali released in almost 10,000 screens, while the actual truth is that the film was released in only 4,500 screens across the world.
To put it into perspective, a multiplex ticket in north India is priced anywhere between Rs 350-450 on a Friday and Salman Khan’s “Sultan” – which was released in 4500 screens – earned Rs 36.54 crore. In Chennai and Bangalore also many corporate offices announced holidays due to Kabali release.
In Tamil Nadu, Kabali is expected to break the first day box office records of all the Tamil movies.
“No other star’s film could’ve achieved this kind of opening”.
This makes “Kabali” the highest-streamed Tamil album during its month of release. That’s literally the lifetime collection of any big banner film!

“We had planned to screen the film at four star hotels – JW Marriot Lalit Ashok, Royal Orchid and Crown Plaza in the city, with tickets prized from Rs.1,300-1,500”, said Lahari Velu, a distributor of the movie. Moreover, the prospects of the Malay version is of high importance to the company as the success of the Rajinikanth’s film could set a new trend in Kollywood to target the Malaysian audience.
