In her prime-time address to the Democratic convention Monday, first lady Michelle Obama cited a little-discussed fact that dramatized her own African American family’s place in history.

Hurwitz was Hillary Clinton’s top speechwriter in the 2008 presidential primary.
Temperament and experience is something Michelle Obama has been referencing a lot these days – dipping her toe into 2016 politics by taking veiled shots at Donald Trump in speeches over the past few months. Bernie Sanders and leading to rousing cheers.
The president told a town hall earlier this year: “There are three things that are certain in life: Death, taxes and Michelle is not running for president”.
The stakes are high for the newly minted nominee, but they are arguably even higher for the incumbent president.
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren got third place.
“Because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters, and all our sons and daughters, now take for granted that a woman can be president of the United States”, Obama said.
Michelle Obama spoke of a country of people who have overcome obstacles. And she can communicate her message in an authentic way, be it on social media or in a major speech.
“This election, and every election, is about who will have the power to shape our children for the next four or eight years of their lives. Michelle can actually get those who are still on the fence and bring them in for her. I hope that she will be a surrogate”.
Obama painted a picture of her husband’s first secretary of state as a competent, steely politician who does not make “snap decisions” or judgments.
Obama began her speech talking about her husband and how he has tried his best to make this country a better place.
“The issues a president faces are not black and white, and can not be boiled down into 140 characters”, she said, referring to Trump’s penchant for posting comments on Twitter.
“It was about striking the balance with that dress”, Siriano, who was contacted by the First Lady’s stylist, told “Vogue” Tuesday morning. And make no mistake about it, this November when we go to the polls that is what we’re deciding, not Democrat or Republican, not left or right.
Matthew Dowd worked on Republican President George W. Bush’s 2004 reelection campaign.
Fox News commentator and humorist Andy Levy commented on Obama’s political future following the speech.
Based on her DNC performance, it seems the first lady is ready to accept the job as Hillary surrogate.
“We know that our words and actions matter not just to our girls, but to children across this country”, said the 52-year-old Obama, a Harvard-educated lawyer. She talked about our children and what this election meant to their futures.
And that’s What’s Trending Today.
A number of Michelle Obama’s remarks Monday night, however, could be read as criticisms of Donald Trump.
