Fairfield High Schools Among Nation’s Best In Latest Newsweek Rankings

The national ranking of the top 500 high schools was released this week, and Ames High landed at No. 418 on the list.

The top overall designation went to Thomas Jefferson High School in Virginia.

Lambert is at least the third Forsyth County high school to make Newsweek’s rankings over the years, joining West (in 2013) and South Forsyth (2006-12).

“Livingston Public Schools is disappointed that Newsweek did not have the appropriate data from Livingston High School to include LHS in their annual listing of America’s Top High Schools”, said Lehren.

Chapel Hill High was ranked No. 178, Carrboro High was No. 307 and Green Hope High in Cary was 338.

In addition, five other local schools made the magazine’s Beating the Odds list, which also factors in poverty rates.

The College Readiness Index used to rank the schools is based on college enrollment rate, graduation rate, SAT/ACT composite scores, student retention, counselor-to-student ratio and advanced placement/International Baccalaureate/duel enrollment composite.

New Buffalo High ranked 221st. and Lawton ranked 407th.
