Fallout 4’s main theme played by composer Inon Zur

When Fallout 4 is released later this year, players will have over 400 hours worth of content to explore, as they try to survive the game’s Boston-set wasteland. It’s this dualism – the somber sounds of a minor chord leading the bright optimism of a major chord – that defines the Fallout theme.

Bethesda Softworks has just released a new video showcasing the Multi-award-winning composer Inon Zur as he brings his unique sounds and inimitable style to the Fallout 4 score.

Zur has produced the music for dozens of games in addition to his work with television and film. You also hear it first in the main theme.

After already revealing the fact that Fallout 4 has over 100,000 lines of dialogue, Bethesda has now given Fallout fans a taste of the game’s soundtrack.

Gamers can also watch him play the main theme on the piano and can find out more details about his creative process. “In Fallout we’re always torn between the despair and the darkness and all the dangers that are lurking in the world, and the hope to build a better world”.

Of course, Zur didn’t make the music for Fallout 4 by turning into an animal on furniture and instruments.

“In some parts of the game, we decided that the right feel would be more orchestral, but the lead instrument is low accordion”, Zur says.

“Todd and Mark wanted something warmer”.

We also understand that alongside the main theme will be two additional tracks released for Fallout 4.
