Fallout: New Vegas is now backwards compatible on Xbox One

After all, as Phil said on Twitter, it would be odd to announce two new consoles in preparation of calling it quits on a video game industry that is so profitable for some. However, for anyone who likes to visit the old world and enjoy some nostalgic time crafting new items, it is time to grab Fallout New Vegas on the Xbox One console. The latter can also be played on Xbox One via the Backwards Compatibility program, as with other Xbox 360 titles released in Games with Gold.

Microsoft surprised everyone with the reveal of Project Scorpio at its E3 conference, as no one was expecting that Microsoft would reveal another console after Xbox One S. Now, years down the road, Microsoft’s Xbox One has far outgunned Nintendo’s champion, the Wii U. The introduction of multiple consoles with varying price tags — the Xbox One S, for example, ranges from $299 to $399, depending on the hard drive size — could confuse, fracture or frustrate consumers.

We highly recommend heading over to Metacritic to get a better feel for the game, its mechanics, and to gather opinions from people other than critics. No longer was it just Sony and Nintendo in their own little worlds. Microsoft has said that the new upgraded Xbox One console will deliver “true 4K gaming” with smooth framerates but they are also saying that it will still be limited with what the developers can do with the game. They offered a special Iron Man Xbox One in late April in conjunction with Captain America: Civil War. But we’ll have to wait for the new consoles to arrive and stay around for a while before drawing any conclusions.

In 2017, Nintendo plans to launch a new, more powerful game console to succeed its Wii U. Going forward, every new Xbox One exclusive that’s published by Microsoft will also be available on Windows 10. The fact that Microsoft’s dev team has been working hard, sorting out issues, bugs and hardware level optimization for as many as 200 titles over time speaks volumes about its commitment to the entire project.

We don’t know how powerful the NX system is, what it looks like, or much else.

For now, it seems console cycles will never be the same again.
