Marcotte, who was murdered last week as she jogged near her mother’s home in Princeton, was remembered Tuesday at a funeral Mass in the same church where she had been baptized 27 years earlier.
Marcotte will be laid to rest Tuesday morning after a service at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Leominster. She was visiting her mother when attacked, officials have said.
The Google account manager was found dead August 7 in the woods near her mother’s Princeton home.
The 27-year-old Google account manager was found dead last Sunday night hours after she went for a run near her mother’s Princeton home.
“She was so flawless, it was otherworldly”, said her best friend Leah Abrahams in a hearfelt eulogy. She explained they had decided not to attend the funeral because they did not want to use a seat from someone who had known Marcotte personally.
Marcotte was a 2011 graduate of Boston University and a 2007 graduate of the Bancroft School in Worcester.
The Rev. Dennis O’Brien, who presidened over the funeral, said Marcotte’s memory would endure with her family and friends. She was visiting her mother in the town of Princeton when she chose to take a jog. She was the best kid in the world.
Burial will be at the Woodside Cemetery in Westminster. When a nun advised that would be quite a challenge since no one knew for sure what God looked like, the priest said Marcotte replied, “Well, they will now”.
A large number of Marcotte’s colleagues from Google arrived in a large bus outside the church, where the parking lot was full.

WCVB reported that police are testing DNA samples from at least one possible person of interest in Marcotte’s murder. We’ve got to keep that going.
