Megan Short had been posting her plans to leave her husband on Facebook, a friend told the Reading Eagle, and had alleged in Facebook posts that Mark was abusive.

SINKING SPRING Megan Short was ready to divorce her husband Mark. He was reportedly trying to keep his family together.
Angie Burke, a neighbor who lives near the deceased family, said Megan Short had posted on Facebook about needing help moving out of her house on August 6 ― the same day police uncovered the grisly scene during a welfare check.
An autopsy for Mark Short was scheduled for Monday afternoon by Dr. Neil Hoffman. In addition, the Berks County District Attorney’s Forensic Unit is conducting forensic analysis of the physical evidence.
Officers arrived at the Short residence and knocked on the door.
The DA also noted that the family had dealt with “domestic issues” in the past. Burke knew Megan from neighborhood events and they kept in touch through social media.
“Short commented later, ‘This is why I am leaving my marriage Angie”.
“He was a family, family guy”.
In it, author Leigh Stein previewed her forthcoming memoir, where she describes the humiliation, manipulation and psychological abuse she suffered while dating her ex-boyfriend.
Mark’s family told reporters the couple took the kids to Disney World this past February as a way to improve their marriage.
Her mother had written publically about having post-traumatic stress disorder.
The Short family was known for their daughter, Willow, who was born with a congenital heart defect in 2014. She shared that certain smells or sounds would trigger her anxiety.
Throughout the conversation, Megan Short said she had found a rental property and was waiting to be approved. She did reveal a sense of relief by writing in her blog on the family support group. “I am constantly wondering if the next appointment is when the other shoe will drop”.
Willow Short, a 2-year-old who underwent a heart transplant when she was a few weeks old, was found dead in her Pennsylvania home in an apparent murder-suicide, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Upon arrival, the officials forced their way into the home and discovered the five family members and their dog in the living room, all dead from gunshot wounds. Officers paid a visit to the stately single home where the family lived on Winding Brook Drive when one of Megan Short’s relatives called them, concerned after she failed to show up for a planned lunch, authorities said.

Police have not yet said who they believe did the shooting, but said investigators did find a “murder-suicide note” in the home, along with a handgun near one of the adults’ bodies.
