Fans pay tribute to Bowie in New York
(Vatican Radio) The Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano remembered David Bowie in its Tuesday edition, saying the influential rock star was “never banal”. Artists scheduled to perform at the show include Cyndi Lauper, Ann Wilson, Jakob Dylan, and more. We’ll miss you more than you’ll ever know.

“RIP David Bowie” it tweeted, next to a drawing of a sad face wearing the famous red flash that marked Bowie’s face on the cover of the album “Aladdin Sane”.
“It was a basement flat with two bedrooms, pretty small and all subterranean”. And there really is a God – so do I buy that one? “If I leave I’m callous, if I stay, I’m callous”.
Although “black stars” are usually found in the breast, and can show evidence that the radial scar they form around is benign, rather than cancerous, for many fans the discovery has significance with Bowie’s choice of album title.
Bruce said: “He was sensational”. He said: “Sometimes he sent me an email – “I’ve had a bad day” – but he was very close to the whole process”.
“Like them, he changed the world for the better”.
“When the “Low” album was out and Iggy Pop was about to tour, David played keyboards in Iggy’s band”. I never met such a brilliant person. “The first time I saw him was when he was supporting Humble Pie”.
Bowie’s biographer, Paul Trynka, described the Brixton-raised performer as “someone who redefined pop music” and “a creative force who endured over several decades”. I’ll be offline for a while.
Friend and collaborator Brian Eno said: “David’s death came as a complete surprise, as did almost everything else about him“.
“His music played a very strong part in British musical history and I’m proud to think of the huge influence he has had on people all around the world”.
Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, who recorded a cover of Dancing in the Street with Bowie in 1985, branded him “an inspiration”.
The months leading up to Blackstar were just as secretive thanks to the silence held by Visconti and two dozen musicians who joined Bowie in creating his 25th studio album, which was released Friday – the iconic musician’s birthday.

Visions of death and sickness permeate David Bowie’s “Blackstar”, but who would have thought the album would be the music legend’s “parting gift?”.
