Fans vote enforcer John Scott the NHL All-Star most valuable player
Scott captained the Pacific to a 1-0 win in the championship.

No matter what happens throughout the rest of his career, John Scott will forever be known as an NHL All-Star Game MVP. The Pacific Division beat the Atlantic Division won 1-0.
Arizona Coyotes goaltender Louis Domingue was named rookie of the month, going 6-3-2 with a shutout. Scott was even traded by the Coyotes to the Canadiens, and then assigned to the AHL franchise in Newfoundland. Bissonnette watched Sunday’s game, and like just about every hockey player you could find, he loved it, loved it. I asked Bissonnette: What does it mean that Scott, one of the last heavyweights, one of the last true fighters, was the guy who became the king of hockey, for a day?
Not only did he play in the game and score two pretty darn sweet goals, but he was undeniably the highlight of the weekend. You can’t put it into words. “It’s been unbelievable. You can’t write this stuff”. Everyone in the arena seemed to get a kick out of Scott’s goal.
You can just imagine a couple of clowns sitting around saying “Hey, let’s get John Scott voted into the All-Star game, that would be hilarious”. Scott’s teammates even briefly lifted him onto their shoulders during a postgame interview. And even after the $1 million check was handed out, the mania surrounding Scott, and an event that won’t soon be forgotten, carried on.
Scott said he only got nervous when San Jose defenseman Brent Burns, a friend and former teammate, helped hoist him in the air. But I think a 3-on-3 format, if you’re not trying you’re going to be pinpointed, so I think everyone was definitely trying… “Yeah, nerve wracking, especially (since) Burnzie is such a spaz”.
I used to try hard to avoid anything having to do with All-Star games except for baseball. But on Sunday night, Scott put together a reel full of memorable ones – the flawless ending to a most weird ordeal. It had been mocked for its recent All-Star Games being unwatchable and now the league had the most undeserving All-Star ever captaining one of four teams in this year’s new 3-on-3 tournament. This time, these All-Stars combined for 116 shots and 23 goals. People are intrigued reading about this kind of situation, and then watching the brilliant 3-on-3 play could only attract more interest in the game. The winners of the first two games advanced to a third-period championship.
“I saw he scored, and that was a great celly, too”, Tavares said.
What a time to be John Scott.
Scott’s wife is due with twins in the next few days, so he has that to look forward to and that new van he won will undoubtedly come in handy (he also has two daughters). Today, some of ex-teammates and players around the league paid him back with an honor that he will never forget and neither will I. Indeed, the first game was the least interesting of the three, with players in the Atlantic and Metropolitan divisions feeling things out, and seemingly pacing themselves.

She said this has been overwhelming. “I think it’s the best possible outcome right?” “We’d like to have the babies at home”. Bishop stopped Kris Letang on a breakaway, and shut down Evgeni Malkin alone in front, in the final minute of the first game. Bishop also added an assist. Unlike the MLB All-Star game, this isn’t supposed to be serious.
