Fans walkout no excuse for Liverpool, says Henderson

Liverpool were 2-0 up at the time but crumbled with Adam Johnson’s free-kick halving the deficit before Jermain Defoe slammed home a last-gasp equaliser, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool first team coach Pepijn Lijnders feels their draw with Sunderland is not a proper representation of the match.

Jordan Henderson insists Liverpool can not use the Anfield walkout as an excuse for their capitulation against Sunderland.

Some of those fans who remained in their seats blamed those who left for affecting the performance, but Henderson said that was not the case. “I don’t think anything else will bother us”, Henderson told British media when asked if the mood around Anfield affected the players.
