Fantastic four: Mane, Salah, Coutinho, Firminho to start for Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp does not believe his side needs a 25-goal-a-season striker to rival the potent attacking force of his rivals.

The Liverpool side could do with the boost after only have one win in the last six games.

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Chelsea have seen their big-money signings at the position thrive thus far.

With the likes of Harry Kane, Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku in red-hot form for the Premier League heavyweights, some have suggested Liverpool need a clinical frontman.

Ralph Hasenhuttl said: “Naby was not good today, maybe it would have been better not to have taken him”. Klopp told outlets in the UK. But it’s not the time to talk about what we considered. For us, it’s not a normal time. “They all have to fit together and that is what we have to try”.

“We are not insane”.

“I really can not imagine that anyone wants to watch football on that night”, he told reporters.

While he nearly claimed an assist, as Daniel Sturridge latched onto his pass but lashed a shot wide, the Brazilian struggled to put Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope under any real pressure.

“We saw a clip of Michael Owen score a hat-trick of pretty scrappy goals 15 years ago. And then everyone will ask for a fit Daniel Sturridge and want to have him”, he added.

“That has changed and we’ve made a big step in this. That’s a fantastic situation”.

Two goals have been netted in his last two outings, against Leicester and Spartak Moscow, with Wijnaldum quick to highlight the value of his match-winning qualities.

“Now I am excited, because we have all of the boys here”, said Jurgen Klopp on Monday. Surprise, surprise! The only other play that’s missing who is key, is Adam Lallana. The only thing we can do is to focus on our football and what we are doing. “The hard thing in a situation like this is to stay confident and do it again and again and again”, said the Reds boss. If we have to play on December 24, Sky has to make a decision whether they really want to do this. ‘They can say “yeah but you signed it” but you can still think about it. Yes, we are strong enough to go through, but we have to do it.

Playing Coutinho deeper would allow Klopp retain each of his most lethal attacking quartet, giving the “Fab Four” another chance to build consistency and hopefully spark to life on Tyneside.

As home fans we would have much less cause to complain about such a fixture move, although they do sometimes like to put on the odd evening match over the festive period, although this would surely not be one of those occasions!
