Fantasy Football: Projecting the top five running backs in 2015

Go ahead, give it a listen whenever you can… but only if you like winning fantasy football leagues and enjoy quality pants.

One of the many things I do is look at the Average Draft Position that has happened so far, as I can get an idea of general value of each player. Bo Mitchell of Vikings Journal and Anthony Maggio of Zoneblitz.com will help you get ready for Draft Day as only they can… while wearing comfortable slacks. The best you can hope for is that the players you decide to start each week turn in their better games than your opponent’s guys.

Under no circumstances should you be spending middle-round picks in your fantasy football drafts on defenses or kickers.

With that in mind, here’s a look at some potential quarterback bust candidates for 2015.

If you haven’t scheduled your draft yet, Bo Mitchell and I will be in attendance at the 1500 ESPN Fantasy Football Draft Party hosted by Judd Zulgad and Phil Mackey. In the early rounds, you want stable guys that provide a good base for your roster. If there are still several players on the board ahead of him on your rankings, you automatically know you’ll have more than $50 left to spend on one of them. The RB position is just not deep enough to go that route, so don’t even try. Not so much for the first round, but more in terms of what type of players are available once the draft circles back around in Round 2 and beyond.

Another NFC North running back.

Those are two obvious ways to lose your draft. McCoy and Charles had led their teams to the playoffs. That’s way too much risk for me, having to go with either one of those guys as my top running back.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin. All can be great options, sure, but all of them were also hurt last season. “If you don’t have time, don’t do it. But if you join, stick it out”. The easiest plan, other than just to buy a certain few guys no matter their price and then figure out the rest later, is to set aside percentages you want to spend at each position. Register your league now because space is limited! So in my top WR tier example, I can promise that the last player in that tier will be one of the highest priced among the group no matter where he may fall in your rankings because he’s the last of the best group available. Even with Aaron Rodgers on his team in 2014, his first RBs drafted were Reggie Bush (3 round), Joique Bell (5) and Bernard Pierce (7). In the meantime, hopefully this primer right in the thick of draft season will help you prepare properly so you’re confident heading into your draft or auction. When you get those three RBs, build around them and you’ll more than likely find one late-round gem or more.

When doing a mock draft, don’t simply pay attention to what players you take.
