Fantasy football waiver-wire advice Week 6: Jamaal Charles injury makes
We are five weeks into the season and each week different teams are on bye weeks. I’m not dropping someone like Tyrod Taylor for him or inserting him into my starting lineup next week versus Denver, but he’s someone to take note of as he has been putting up huge numbers. I know that one day leagues are taking over but I am staying old school. That is where the real challenge is.

Week 6 of the fantasy football season is just around the corner and we’ve got you covered for DraftKings NFL sleepers and bargains. Fantasy owners were cool with this and Fisher DGAF what Rams fans think of it. Well, look at his schedule. He gets a lot of single coverage against second tier corners and he’s developing a strong connection with Bortles. This is even easier than the reason for picking up Barnidge.
The Rams are perplexing, and have been for a couple of seasons, losing games they should have won or, as they did last week against Arizona, pulling out victories when they should have lost. That shouldn’t have come as a surprise if you were paying attention to Shark Bites.
There are going to be plenty of people kicking themselves this week for passing this guy up. Go all in. You have to make moves now, or in 2-3 weeks, you’ll be watching college basketball and only playing DFS football.
Devonta Freeman, RB, Atlanta Falcons: Freeman’s incredible run continued Sunday, when he put up nearly 200 total yards on 34 touches against the Redskins.
I’ll Be Back (in Arnold Schwarzenegger voice)… McCown has been lighting up defenses since returning in week three, after suffering a concussion in week one.
The bigger story for me this season has been the QB situation. I’m not shopping for Lewis or expecting him to be my No. 1 running back the rest of the year. Waiver wire options that could change your season? This is one of the times when fantasy and reality don’t match up. WHODEY! Then to prove that there is a God, Josh McCown went all Joe Montana and crushed the hopes and dreams of their division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens. The only players I would definitely take over him are Rob Gronkowski and Greg Olsen. Overall, Davis is considered a very average running back, as he’s averaged just 3.4 yards per carry over the course of his career.
Andy Dalton – Bengals: Dalton did it again this week, racking up 331 passing yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, and adding another 17 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
I am a Jay Cutler fantasy fan. It doesn’t get much tougher than that. This is another one of those times where fantasy and reality are not the same.
You could tell right away it was a terrible injury. Does Wilson start across from Alshon Jeffery when everyone returns from injury? Even if Steve Smith returns (still baffling that he could), Aiken proved he deserves the looks and carries upside if Smith doesn’t play or aggravates the injury. Ben Roethlisberger’s injury isn’t helping Antonio Brown with the Steelers, Peyton Manning’s struggles are hampering Demaryius Thomas with the Broncos and Calvin Johnson’s quiet start is a small part of the Lions’ 0-5 start.
Here is the question you have to ask. Brandon Weeden was a better fantasy QB than Manning this week, and Weeden is going to lose his job because of his game! It’s a reminder of what he can do if Colin Kaepernick avoids throwing interceptions. It would be a disappointment if he doesn’t finish among the eight best RB from this point on. What receivers are beginning to see more targets? Most fantasy players immediately thought about Knile Davis when Jamaal Charles got hurt.
Cleveland’s Gary Barnidge (51 percent owned in Yahoo) probably won’t be available much longer. He out touched Crowell again for the second week in a row. He is a good talent that will be the lead back in Cleveland before the season is over.
We’re not completely ruling out the possibility of Davis emerging as Kansas City’s lead back. This became clear by Week 4 when West had five carries and Davis had zero.
Davis is already a proven commodity covering for Charles in the past and doing really well. Find the end zone- twice. But now, West is in the equation, and it appears he has taken over Davis’ role.
It is never a good sign when a hashtag calling for your firing goes viral.
Thomas Rawls, SEA – Maybe, maaaybe, Marshawn Lynch is back this week? He’s owned in just 12% of leagues and worth a look when he sheds his doubtful status. The touchdowns aren’t there (six), but he has 1,203 yards, a good pass-catching running back, an athletic tight end and a team likely needing him to play catch-up often. He has 10 catches on the year, so looks better in PPR leagues than standard.
The answer is Bortles, who threw four touchdown passes Sunday for his third game of the season with at least two. He did it behind a steady dose of carries (24) and three total touchdowns.
Unfortunately, it’s difficult to recommend him as a player to target in a trade. Yes, it sounds simple because it is that simple.

Back to back, six catch, 80+ yards weeks. Still available in over 50% of ESPN leagues. Get Hurns, start Hurns. The Lions are one of the worst teams against the pass, letting John Brown, Larry Fitzgerald and Darren Fells all score last week and even letting three Seahawks receivers have value the week before. Keep your eye on the injury report for this one.
