Farah requests NRL release from Tigers

Wests Tigers have offered Robbie Farah a four-year contract and post-career ambassadorial role in an extraordinary change of stance on their 2015 skipper, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The joint venture released a statement on Saturday confirming the request was made by Farah’s management.

Besides a release to play elsewhere next season, Farah wants $400,000 up front that he is owed from deferred contract payments plus the remainder of his deal paid out in full.

Pascoe rushed back from a family holiday out of town to sit down with the club’s longest-serving player and his management on Sunday, a day after Farah officially sought a release.

“Any decision taken in regards to this release will consider the club’s responsibility and commitment to ensuring this club transfers itself into a strong position for a sustainable future”.

Until that time, Robbie will fulfill his contractual agreements with the Club and continue to be a part of Wests Tigers pre-season training.

The 238-game Tigers stalwart had also been linked to Penrith, Manly, South Sydney and St George Illawarra before the Roosters jumped from the pack.

The Tricolours’ shock interest in the NSW vice-captain came despite the Roosters already having co-captain Jake Friend, touted as a future State of Origin hooker.

Farah has been linked with a move to St George Illawarra, something his former Tigers teammate and now Dragons playmaker Benji Marshall would love to see. The problem is we have a class hooker in Mitchell Rein.

The report comes after months of speculation over Farah’s future, with the NRL star not believed to be in coach Jason Taylor’s set-up for 2016.

Farah in August stated his intention to remain with the NRL club despite apparently being told he would play reserve grade rugby if he chose to stay.
