Trump vowed to win Kirk’s state in November, even though IL has not voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 1988.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee spoke with lawmakers as he narrows his search for a vice president.
The meeting was attended by Cruz’s former campaign manager and Republican National Committee boss Reince Priebus. They did not discuss an endorsement but Cruz did accept Trump’s invitation to speak at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland the week of July 18, Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said.
Oklahoma lawmakers said their Capitol Hill meetings with Donald J. Trump on Thursday focused on policy matters and Republican unity for the presidential race. “But, at a meeting like that, you’re able to look someone in the eye and hear what they have to say and ask questions”. In a series of meetings with Republican lawmakers, he blamed the media for stumbles that continue to alarm party leaders and excite Democrats with early voting scheduled to start in less than three months.
Trump held a meeting with more than 200 members from the House G.O.P., billed as a meet-and-greet, in which he emphasized his desire to appoint a proven conservative justice to the Supreme Court.
Trump later met with Sen.
“I think it was the normal stream of consciousness that’s long on hyperbole and short on facts”, Sanford said, adding, “He may be loose on some facts, reckless on some, but there’s not malicious intent there”. “There was no talk of changing his style or anything like that”, said Rep. Peter King of NY. “There was not one negative moment”.
“I want to support the nominee”.
The Dardanelle Republican, who has been mentioned as a possible Trump vice presidential pick in recent weeks, has said he is not being vetted for the job.
“Looking past November, if you’ve got a president who’s a member of the same party that controls Congress, you’re going to need elevated levels of cooperation to pass laws and get things done, so I thought it was a correct move for Mr. Trump to begin building that type of relationship with Congress”, the Jonesboro Republican said.
“Yes, I’m the other senator from Arizona – the one who didn’t get captured – and I want to talk to you about statements like that”, Flake responded, referring to Trump’s past dismissal of Senator John McCain’s record as a prisoner during the Vietnam war. After threatening to go on the attack against the senator in the future, Trump told Flake he would lose his re-election this year.
Flake’s spokesman Jason Samuels said the Post account was accurate.
Flake told reporters after the meeting that he still can not support Trump for president “given the things that he said”.
Most surprising of all was the enthusiasm from Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R.-Wis.), who is regularly criticizing Trump to the delight of the Washington press corps and then, when he is pressed about the general election, he will make a point of not using Trump’s name to the smirking delight of the reporters.
Trump has said he agrees with the concept of opening ties but thinks that the US should have made a better deal.
