It’s also got some forward motion behind it now, thanks to Deadline reporting that Rachel Keller, currently enjoying the buzz from her performance on Fargo, had been cast as the female lead for the upcoming show.

Actress Rachel Keller arrives at the premiere of FX’s “Fargo” Season 2 at the Arclight Theatre on October 7, 2015 in Los Angeles, California.
At the moment, we don’t know any details about the character Keller will be playing, or how she’ll slot into David’s story.
Keller, who just turned 23, continues to be repped by Suskin Management. The series will explore the adventures of the character David Haller, who has struggled with mental illness since he was a teen. In the comics, David is the son of X-Men founder Charles Xavier (aka Professor X) and Israeli Holocost survivor Gabrielle Haller. It’s not clear how closely the Legion series will follow Haller’s history and his ties to the X-Men, but the description of the series hints that the show will play with the idea that not everything Haller experiences is real. This suggest that she’ll have similar powers to the likes of the X-Men’s Rogue, or Spyke. After being diagnosed with schizophrenia, he finds himself in a psychiatric hospital where he has a “strange encounter” with another patient that changes the way he looks at both the world and himself. The character became a fan favorite, and apparently she made quite an impression on Hawley and FX as well.
Legion’s pilot has been written by Noah Hawley of Fargo fame, and he’s wasted little time in raiding his other series for acting talent.

Fargo showrunner Hawley will write the pilot and serve as an executive producer alongside Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb.
