Farm Aid to mark 30th anniversary with concert in Chicago

Farm Aid 30 will continue with the concert’s movement to benefit and support family farms.

Farm Aid, the concert designed to raise awareness and support the need for family farms across the United States is celebrating its 30 anniversary in 2015 and set a date for the celebration to take place.

The first Farm Aid concert was in 1985 at Memorial Stadium in Champaign. He says, “Thirty years later, in Chicago, we’ll bring together so numerous people – farmers, eaters, advocates and activists – who have made the progress of the Good Food Movement possible”.

Farm Aid will celebrate its 30th year in Chicago. At the HOMEGROWN Youthmarket, young people from Growing Power, the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences, and Windy City Harvest Youth Farm will be selling fresh apples, pears and baked goods. They realized that if we lost family farmers, we lost Main Street and we lost our food. “We’ve got a lot more work to do, but the connection between rural and urban communities is more real and important to people”. Today the initial lineup for this year’s event has been revealed. “We’ll take stock of 30 years of action and strengthen our commitment to work for change in our farm and food system”.

Tickets for Farm Aid 30 will go on sale Monday, August 3, at 10 a.m. Connecticut. A live webcast will be available for those who can’t attend in person.
