In August another Singapore Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing after colliding head-on with flock of storks.

Crew on-board SQ-7108 descended the aircraft immediately and diverted to Bali where they landed about 45 minutes later.

The Aviation Herald reported that upon landing, emergency personnel inspecting the aircraft failed to “find any trace of fire, heat or smoke”. So it took off once more and reached Kuala Lumpur about 2.5 hours later.

Investigators determined that plane exhaust gasses along with the sheep manure and farts set off smoke detectors in the cargo hold. The plane was later certified serviceable and departed at 8.20pm local time.

Regarding claims that animal flatulence had caused the landing, SIA said: “It is not able to be confirmed”.

I’m surprised the stressful condition of passengers housed in cramped seats with no leg room doesn’t cause them to become bloated with gas, triggering smoke alarms.

“Mature pastures are less likely to cause bloat than immature or rapidly growing pastures”.
