‘Fast & Furious’ spinoffs, prequels in early stages of development
Seven movies in, and even after losing one of its central characters to a tragic auto crash, the Fast & Furious franchise shows no signs of slowing down. Don’t audiences want to sit down with a big bowl of popcorn and watch cars do things that by all logic and science, they can’t do? Fast & Furious 8 already has a set release date of April 14, 2017.

“Recent reports stated that although Walker’s character Brian O’Connor was seen choosing a different life and parting ways with his friend Dominic Torreto, played by Vin Diesel, the makers of the movie are planning to bring back the character by including multiple flashback scenes through CGI and computer imagery”, said the report.
Which characters? Since we don’t actually know, this seems like the time for rampant rumormongering.
His comments were also supported by Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley, who said that “We’re certainly in conversations about how we can expand the franchise now…”
“A lot of people are thinking “F8, ‘ I just get lazy and say ‘Fast 8.’ I don’t know if the official title’s come out yet”. With so many characters already introduced in this super-dense mythology, there’s plenty of room to branch out beyond the primary Fast storyline.
“We have a director who is going to bring the darkness out and bring out the character”.
If Universal does go forward with launching spinoffs and prequels, it will be aping a strategy successfully employed by the Avengers movies and one being embraced by Star Wars, which is augmenting a new trilogy with origin stories focused on Han Solo and others. “We’ll still have big stunts but bringing in this unbelievable storyteller is going to be great”. All involved believe there is a lot more story to be told within this universe.

“Vin has a vision in his mind for three more, so let’s get three more done and then see where we are from there”, Shell said, calming a few nerves.
