Faster loads & less battery drain

There’s less battery drain as well, although the more video you watch on your phone, the more drain you can expect. But the newest release of Chrome for Android, version 52, promises to solve those issues and more.

It may not sound like much, but given that video consumption on mobile devices is steadily on the rise, browsers need all the help they can get.

This is Chrome OS beta 53.0.2785.36 and while it is a beta and includes Google Play access, Google mentions that the Google Play portion of the update is still a “Developer Preview” and may not work as fully intended. A video performed in earlier variations of Chrome took 1:13 to load in comparison with exclusively 9 seconds in Chrome 52. While a factor of five sounds impressive, it simply means that videos will load in less than a second now instead of about a second. Release 52 is “smoother, loads faster and consumes less battery”, according to Google. You will be able to see that the loading time is substantially low and you can enjoy these small videos without any interruption. When enabled, you’ll see a “lightweight” version of embedded videos, Ramamoorthy said.

The changes will be most noticeable when a user loads up a short video or a video that’s in the HTML5 format.

Select Settings from the menu that opens.

The browser will continue to provide you more economical browsing experience because it will supports the data saver mode where in it will allow you to use 50% less data.

Note: All regular traffic (http) is tunneled through Google servers when enabled. Rather than having a number of apps on their devices, some opt to simply use their mobile device the same way they would use their computer – through the browser.
