Firefighters found two people unresponsive in the front bedroom of the house, reports WBAL TV.
Firefighters said when they arrived they found smoke and flames shooting out of the rear of the house. No other injuries have been reported. Captain Davies says they usually have only three or four fatalities from fire in a typical year.
County fire department spokesman Capt. Russ Davies said the fire broke out around 1:45 a.m. Monday at a home in the 100 block of Benfield Road. Shortly after 2am, the fire had damaged the building so bad that crews were evacuated and an exterior attack was initiated and the fire brought under control and two victims were discovered.
Investigators have not released the names of the victims.
Davies says the cause of the fire is unknown, and an investigation is underway.
