It was unclear how long the infant had been in the auto, but Shania’s body temperature was extremely elevated, Grenada Deputy Coroner Jo Morman said.
Blunt was later charged with second-degree murder and tonight remained in custody on a $250,000 (£172,163) bail bond.
Shania was the second child to die in a hot vehicle in MS this month.
Joshua Blunt, 25, had been working his shift at a restaurant in Grenada, Mississippi, yesterday evening when his child was found unconscious.
Blunt is now in the Grenada County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the father, Joshua Lewis Blunt, left her inside the auto for some period of time.
Once discovered, the infant was taken inside the restaurant and “rushed outside” when paramedics arrived.
Doctors tried unsuccessfully to revive her. She was later pronounced dead by the Grenada County Coroner.
