Father goes missing from daughter’s California wedding

And while the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department has searched for Prasad they’ve classified him as a “voluntary missing person”.

Durga Moparti, an Indian American business analyst with WellPoint, in Cerritos, Calif., believes her father may have walked to a nearby bridge and slipped off. A spokesperson for the Grand Island Mansion told India-West that the nearest bridge to the villa is at Steamboat Slough, about three miles away.

Prasad Moparti, 55, was last seen around 4 p.m. Saturday walking from a wedding reception at Grand Island Mansion and never returned, police said.

Rajesh Gutta, Durga’s husband, said Prasad was “not doing well”. “But I’m really not sure what happened, and this seems like a total mystery”.

In what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of her life, a California bride’s wedding day turned into a desperate search for her father. Sunday night, rescuers were searching in and around the delta.

Prasad Moparti has come to the United States just a month ago – specifically to attend his daughter’s wedding.

Dogs are being used to try to pick up a scent. They have postponed their honeymoon until they know what happened to Moparti.

“It sounded like he was a little depressed and he wanted to go back to India”, Durga told KFOR.

“Our only focus is to get our father back, and our efforts will continue until we get our father back.”
