Johnson, a native of Southern California, was visibly distraught Thursday afternoon, when talked about the death of Robert “Baja Bob” Gordon, 68, and Gordon’s wife, Sharon, 57, who died Wednesday afternoon in Orange, Calif.
Police haven’t released a cause of death but did reveal they found a weapon at the scene of the house in Orange County. No outside suspects are believed to be involved in the deaths.
Sharon Gordon is not the birth mother of Robby Gordon.

He now is competing in the Speed Energy Formula Off-Road series, the website reported, a series that he created in 2013. Residents were out Thursday morning walking and riding horses on dirt trails that run along the winding hillside roads. “Everyone here will be very sad”. Neighbor Greg Saunders said everyone in the area knew the family.
Neighbors said the two people who lived in the home were relatives of former NASCAR driver Robby Gordon, the Orange County Register reported.
“He’s a very nice, down to earth guy”.

CHICAGO (AP) – Six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson remembers vividly the first time he rode in an off-road desert vehicle with “Baja Bob” Gordon about 25 years ago. The driver was also known for making 396 NASCAR Premier Series starts for 19 seasons. He was a full-time driver early last decade and finished a career-high 16th in the points standings in 2003 driving for Richard Childress Racing.

Gordon’s off-road racing team was scheduled to be in Orange County this weekend.

One of Robert Gordon’s daughters, Beccy Hunter-Reay, is married to IndyCar Series driver Ryan Hunter-Reay. His wife, Sharon, was the stepmother of the NASCAR driver.
