Father of slain Dallas officer
Dallas Police Officer Patrick Zamarripa was one of the five police officers killed in the ambush in Dallas, according to social media posts from family members and reports from local media outlets.

According to The Washington Post, the police officer served three tours in Iraq prior to joining the Dallas Police Department five years ago. The shooting took place during a Black Lives Matter protest in downtown Dallas in the wake of citizens killed by police in Baton Rouge, La., and Falcon Heights, Minn.
Patrick may have enjoyed his work, but it was a worry for Rick who would often send texts to his son asking if he was okay.
The married father with a 2-year-old daughter was an avid sports fan and known around the community. After a pair of phone calls with his daughter-in-law, Rick Zamarripa went to the hospital.
Zamarripa also remembered the day his son, about 4 years old at the time, caught his first fish.
A photo posted to Dallas police Officer Patrick Zamarippa’s Twitter account February 25 showed the policeman in uniform, cheesing with his colleague and the “People v. O.J.” star. “He just looked at me and his face started turning red, and I knew right there and then, and I said, ‘No'”.
“The great @cubagoodingjr”, Zamarripa (center in photo below) wrote under the photo.
A Navy reservistwas among the police officers killed in the Dallas sniper attack that claimed the lives of five police officers and wounded seven others. Outside his devotion to helping people, he was an avid Rangers and Cowboys fan, his father said. And seconds later she also was summoned to Parkland – and given the worst news: “I was told he passed away at 9:17”.
“No, I want to stay”, he said.
‘I finally found the love of my life and now have to endure a lifetime without my lobster’.
“That’s the only thing I have left of my son”, his father said.

Zamarripa’s Twitter had been regularly updated before his death, with his profile description reading, “Addicted to the thrill of this job”. “Even last night, whenever he was working and something was going down, I would check in”.
