‘She wouldn’t talk to anybody to pretty much a social butterfly, ‘ Anita said. The little girl could not hear anything without an implant.

[I did it for] my love for her, really.

“Without the cochlear implant, she wouldn’t be able to hear at all”, she said.

Many were impressed with Alistair’s dedication and support for his daughter. Mr Campbell also posted a picture to Facebook where it has been shared dozens of times.

She giggled, touched his head and told him it was “cool”.

“I thought it would be a fitting tribute to her and to show her love and what she goes though in her journey and our journey over the last three years”, he said. Anita reportedly explained that she wasn’t so sure her daughter had grasped the significance of the tattoo just yet, given that she’s only six-years-old.

Charlotte had a cochlear implant put in when she was 4, after she was diagnosed as profoundly deaf in the left ear.

The family likened her case to a stereo with a single speaker.

The implant, which is made up of a series of electrical transmitters, is anchored into the skull and attached to the nerve which transmits hearing signals to the brain. So he got a cochlear implant too.
