Favre’s spot in Hall of Fame all about his father
Once the Packers decided they were moving on with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, their Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Favre became expendable.

But while Favre’s own coaches had dismissed him, Wolf never did.
It was Lambeau Field transported to OH, and only one man could have caused it. In each game, Southern Miss was hopelessly outmanned at every position except one – quarterback. Isn’t that cool that I’m side-by-side with Brett Favre for eternity?
“I said to myself, I will make it to the Hall of Fame so I could acknowledge the fact of how important he was. Look what he did here”.
Not the other living inductees: Tony Dungy, Marvin Harrison, Kevin Greene, Orlando Pace and Ed DeBartolo Jr.
Favre spent 20 years in the National Football League and completed 6,300 passes for 71,838 yards and 508 touchdowns, he threw an NFL-high 336 interceptions – Fave was a three-time All-Pro and also made 11 Pro Bowls.
Favre’s other potentially unbreakable record is not a proud one.
But more than the numbers, Favre will be remembered for the reckless abandon he played with. When he was on the field, you couldn’t take your eyes off of him because you never knew what he was going to do.
Perhaps the most startling aspects of Greene’s time with the Rams, Steelers, 49ers and Panthers were his durability and productivity.
One of the highlights of Favre’s career was his stunningly effective performance in a 41-7 victory over the Raiders in 2003, when he threw four touchdown passes the day after the death of his father, Irvin.
Out of the eight new Hall of Famers, Favre gave the most emotional and memorable speech, spending much of the time talking about his dad, who he credits with always being supportive and pushing him to work hard to achieve his dream.
For half a century, Don Hutson was the gold standard in Green Bay. In 2002, he set the National Football League record with 143 catches and totaled 1,722 yards and 11 touchdowns.
“It was a small group of men, just 10 of them if you can believe that, 10 African-American assistant coaches in the entire NFL”.
“I think it’ll be irresistible, and I think sales are probably demonstrating it, I don’t know how they did at Canton, but I think Packer fans probably cleaned them out”, says Henderson. Green Bay had an bad reputation among players and people were starting to wonder if the Packers could survive in the NFL’s smallest city.
Of course, Favre didn’t change the course of Packers history by himself. His youngest daughter, Breleigh, is 17 and an accomplished high school volleyball player; her season actually started the day of Favre’s enshrinement. His 336 interceptions finished with 59 more than the former leader, George Blanda, who had 277. “All at once, Green Bay became big on television and big across the country”. Obviously the fans would have loved to see it so that is unfortunate. Being real, authentic and spontaneous, and loving the game, to me, was what it was all about. “And Brett’s down-home attitude just appealed to everybody”.
Pro Football Hall of Fame President David Baker began the induction ceremony Saturday night for the class of 2016 by noting the winners of several awards. No other active quarterbacks appears to have a realistic chance.
The Favre’s have been through some testing times. Favre said when he saw the Saints come out of the tunnel, he saw one of the quarterbacks and got goosebumps.
